The prawn cocktail has been around now for a long time. This mixture of lettuce, prawns and Marie Rose sauce has seen countless amounts of tinkering, not all of it wise. The truth is that properly made, with sweet lettuce hearts and juicy prawns it is the perfect way to start a Christmas dinner. INGREDIENTS
  • 1 crispy lettuce

  • 200 grams prawns (we used good food prawns)

  • salt & pepper

  • 2 tpls lemon juice

  • 100 grams mayonnaise

  • 25 grams tomato ketchup

  • 2 tpls worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tpls lemon juice

GUIDE / INSTRUCTIONS
  • Cut up the lettuce into small pieces and place in four bowls or small plates. Season the shelled prawns with salt and pepper and place on the bed of lettuce.

  • Drizzle two tablespoons of lemon juice over the prawns and lettuce.

  • For the sauce: Mix together the mayonnaise, the tomato ketchup, the Worcester sauce, and the remaining lemon juice. Add more tomato ketchup and Worcester sauce to taste. Pour the sauce over the prawns.
